Dumfries and Galloway covers some 2000 square miles and a guide to all the walks and climbs would run into several volumes. Here in Scotland we have a long and proud tradition of mutual tolerance between landowners and the public as far as access to the countryside is concerned. In moorland and mountain areas you will find there are few restrictions on walking as long as everyone behaves sensibly and observes the Country Code.
